The Aug 6, 2009 Twitter/Facebook DoS Attack

Apparently today’s Twitter / Facebook attack targeted one user, a pro-Georgian blogger. This gets pretty deep into exactly what happened http://go.fendmark.com/?i=a

Facebook seemed to have handled the attack pretty well, but Twitter took a beating today. A lot of these younger companies clearly just don’t have the server firepower to handle these types of attacks. They only have so many threads and once those are filled, that’s the ball game.

This has been a crazy week. First Paypal goes down in a blaze of glory on Monday to the tune of about $30-40 million lost in e-commerce transactions and now this.

The funny thing is I was just going to post a 140 character message on Twitter with a link to the article about the DoS attack and because it was down I ended up writing a whole blog post.
